In today’s world, more and more businesses are online. The problem is knowing how to trust if the business is legitimate. Consumers simply rely on online reviews. One study showed that 79% of consumers trust online reviews and buy products or services based on the reviews.
Business reviews play a vital role in establishing trust online. A new customer most likely doesn’t know you personally. He/She wants to try your product or service. However, since there is no prior personal connection, customers might look up your business reviews online to see what other people say about you.
Another difficulty is that it is hard to get reviews. Most people will only leave a review if the product or service is bad because they do not want others to suffer from the same experience. However, there are only a handful of people who will leave a positive review. Therefore, I am helping businesses that deserve more online visibility. I personally look for reviews whenever I am trying a new product or a service. I look for negative feedback and this exercise makes my conversation with the business owner productive. I ask about the negative experiences people had and what would they do to make sure it doesn’t happen again? If I find their answers satisfactory, then I will buy the product or service, otherwise I will just pass.
